North Carolina native Marteka Fair is becoming a regular fixture in the DC and North Carolina techno scenes, supporting artists from Kittens at Flash DC to Perc at the new warehouse pop up, Sometimes in Durham. The eclectic nature of her DJ sets (the most recent of which were at Microdisco and Aquelarre in Lima, Peru) are not a reflection of a refusal to commit to one genre. Rather, they point toward exceptional taste and a uniquely encyclopedic love of club music, which is front and in her productions. Her debut on Maison Fauna is a gritty, trippy left field techno belter that draws inspiration from the likes of Jon Hopkins, Kink, and Blawan. Expect a stomping but groovy four on the floor with teeth ready for peak hours on a headier dance-floor.
